mitt romney won. this was not a close race in any way, shape or form because he was only against ron paul. i'm a northern virginia resident. what i find interesting is you're not seeing the signs for mitt romney in a purple area of virginia. you would think he would be their candidate but there doesn't seem to be a ton of enthusiasm. the turnout was low yesterday. what is going on for mitt romney? >> i think virginia is an interesting state. like you just said, you are a northern virginian. virginia has pockets of conservatism but it's actually still quite a liberal place. there are people who work in washington and live in virginia who don't necessarily identify with people who would necessarily be from the south of virginia. so i think that the fact that he was the only person on the ballot besides ron paul did him wonders because it's not really a place that i think mitt romney would have naturally done well. the fact that newt gingrich and santorum weren't able to get on the ballot was a real stru
